marble cheesecake

yeah. another baking project from me. haha. (speak as professional lah konon). by the way, last friday, i made marble cheesecake. i wanted to make chocolate cake at first because i'm so afraid that another attempt to make cheesecake would fail (like before). but, my sister (who just got back from russia) and my mother insisted and persuaded me to make one. so, here goes. and..it's turned out fine! yeay! the difference that i noticed when i'm making cheesecake this time was, i did not use bain-marie method. i just straight away baking it. so, i guess, i've taken a note that if i want to make another cheesecake in future, i would just put them in oven and voila, leave it!

it looks so messy because i didn't trim off the crispy edge. hey, that's the best part of a cake!!

swiss roll

i've been wanting to make swiss roll since like forever, but i have no guts in trying because i am worry of possibility that the cake might break when i want to roll it. hehe :p so, as for today, i've finally made it!! yeay! the recipe quite easy i must say, and it took only 1 hour to prepare (including the chilling process and rolling). my father eat it and said it was good..tehehehe. (nose enlargement).

let's rolling baby! sememeh-memeh, meleleh-leleh jem nya..

finally! i made it! hahaha.

at first, i wanted to make strawberry buttercream filling, but i forgot to take out my butter from fridge to let it at room temperature, so, i just use strawberry jam instead.

wall sticker project

just now, my mother and i had wall sticker project to our newly painted wall. this sticker caught my eye when my parents bought paint at d.i.y shop last week. too bad, it's quite expensive but, i can't resist because it is soooo pretty!! there are many designs available. as for today, my mother got home with this sticker with her. she said there's a discount for this sticker that's why she bought it. well, i guess, actually this sticker also has attracted her too! :P by the way, the price for the sticker is rm69.90 and there's also another design price at rm59.90. maybe the design for the cheaper one is quite small i guess. quite pricey isn't it for stickers? what do you think? is it reasonable?

so, here goes step by step of our project. daa~~

so, this is the sticker. there are 2 sets in each box

first, we have to cut it

then, paste it on the wall with cellotape as to plan the measurement and layout. the layout is vary, but as first timer, we prefer to follow the given example on the box..hehe

after that, well, start pasting it! this is the result of 1 set

and..tadaaa! this is the final result of 2 sets! ;D

i wanna buy this sticker more to decorate my room wall, thinking of sakura flower. but, it's too expensive ;(

Eclipse and the books

today, to kill my loneliness and bored, i went to pyramid to catch some movies and to get myself new novels. my mother won't let me at first because she's worried about me walking alone to pyramid since there are many cases of snatch and harassment along the road at my housing area. so, i kept walking close to people's house, always watching my back and walked as fast as i could. haha.

so, today, i decided to watch Eclipse, thought of watching 2 movies but, thinking i'm a little short of money, so, be it only Eclipse then. before hitting the showing time, i browsed for new novels at MPH. hehe. thinking of buying Veronika Decides To Die by Paulo Coelho, but i have a second thought buying it because the book appears quite thin for me. i'm worried i would finish reading it too early. haha. caught newly release novel by Audrey Niffenegger (The Time Traveler's Wife) entitled Her Fearful Symmetry. the synopsis caught my eye and i had a hard time choosing between both. texted my cousin to ask about Veronika's novel. too bad, she replied after i succesfully bought Audrey's. maybe next time. settled for Sophie Kinsella's old novel too. there goes my money. blerghh!!

well....well, Eclipse, for me, was, not bad, but, not that good too. haha. can't give precise comment because everyone's thought is different..hehe :p for me, the story like jumping one chapter after another too fast without proper arrangement. but, i understand that they try to relate the novel as much as they can and squeeze in 2 hours time. and, i guess, the movie not fully highlight the details and the character that much. other characters are important too!! but, overall, i think, it's ok to watch but not with high expectation. but, if you deeply in love with Edward's pretty face and Jacob's body, this is a very saliva drolling movie for ya! haha. this is the problem movies adapted from novel. i tend to be bias and comparative. one may want the movie to follow exactly the book, while another one may want the movie to appear differently with different story line. anyway, i often prefer the book.

the second short life of Bree Tarner

yeay, i have finally finish my reading on Stephenie Meyer's latest novel, The Second Short Life of Bree Tarner. took only one day to settle, because it's only about 200 pages. haha. this is a must-have book for Twilight Saga fans (i mean, the book, not the movie). this book is like a continuation erm..no..no, it is like, the other side of story taken from Twilight-Eclipse novel. If you have read Eclipse, towards the end of the novel, The Cullens have surrendered one newborn vampire (from Victoria's coven) and they wanted to protect her. however, the Volturi, to be specific, Jane (the one that Dakota Fanning played in the movie) is against it. she wanted the newborn vampire, Bree to die since Volturi wanted to keep their reputation and do not allow those who made mistake to be given a second chance. i care less about Bree's fate in Eclipse, but when i read this book, i am now get a better view about Bree's life and sympathy of her.

it's so sad knowing one newborn vampire, who doesn't know anything about vampire world, and has no intention to attack the Cullens & Bella at first place to be punished that way. in this novel, it described Bree as an innocent newborn vampire, which she hadn't been given a proper training to be "good" vampire and living under the lies of Riley (Victoria's so-called lover in Eclipse) without knowing the truth the true life of vampire, the law and even their ability. all Riley has told her was to attack the bad vampires (the Cullens) and to deserve their dessert (Bella - she is labelled as dessert due to her sweet blood..erh?). Edward knows Bree's innocence (through the mind-read thingy) and he was also behind Carlisle who wanted to keep, protect and teach her about the true of vampire's world. but, Jane was against them and wanted Bree to die because Bree was already involved in Riley's coven, where the truth were, Bree never has intention to kill, never participated in Riley's training to kill and she already suspected Riley's lies. she was sooo naive in this novel.

so, at the end of this story, The Cullens couldn't do anything to help Bree although they wanted to protect her so bad. Bree managed to pass some information about her life as innocent vampire, message to protect her friend, Fred and her non-involvement in the attack towards Cullen through Edward (by reading Bree's thoughts). Bree is dead without her intention to live as vampire and clueless about the reality of vampire's world. it's a very sad story, and it makes me hate Jane so much after reading this T_T

Penjara Pudu

i guess all of u have heard about Penjara Pudu is demolished last few weeks. for me, well, from my own personal opinion, i feel quite sad to see some piece of history being taken away. actually, i was quite frustrated that they have stopped running that place as museum. yes. before this Penjara Pudu was opened to public. i remember very well, because i was a lucky person who managed to visit inside Penjara Pudu :)

it was in a year of 1998, when i was in 11 years old, i joined my school's visit to Kuala Lumpur and one of the places we went was Penjara Pudu. haha. thinking back, it was like some kind of private joke to me because Kuala Lumpur seemed too far away for a kid like me back then. KONON. haha. well, i wasn't allowed to follow my school's trip to anywhere actually. ok2, back to the story. of course, we have to pay a fee before entering.

as far as i remember, first, i was in the gallery. watched some pictures, reading the history (of course i didn't back then! haha), the display of police uniforms, the punishment tools and such. then, we were brought to visit the old cells. we were told that most of the prisoners already dead. i saw the wall was full of painting, poems and sayings how they regretted the life and what not. there's also few names were carved on it. then, the staffs there played us a video of the punishment where the procedure of canning being showed. of course, watching a naked butt would bring a giggle for a kid like us, but, i remember how it made me scared to see the effect and the painful wound after the canning. the police even said that some of the prisoners were dead during the canning process. they are different ranges of cane, from the thinnest to the thickest are available and each category brings just as the same pain as others.

then, the best part, we were then brought to the rooms where the guilty would be sentenced to death. this is the creepiest rooms ever, because, there were few cells, about 6 or 8, which is opposite to each other, and at the last row was the punishment cell where the rope to hang the prisoner is inside. i remember where we were told to sit, then, they played the audio of the exact situation before the prisoner was hanged! all the lights were off, it was dark and cold inside there. it was so so sad and creepy at the same time although for a 11 years kid like me. there were also some kids who cried. ha ha. big boy bully crying huh? the police there told us that the prisoner could request anything before their death, like the food the wanted to eat, leave a note or whatnot. i guess, the police who do this kind of job is a tough and brave man and i shall respect him. yes, yes, yes. it was a creepiest moment visiting Penjara Pudu although we were in a group and to note again, i was in young age. the police also added that Penjara Pudu were surrounded by unmark graves where they buried the dead that weren't claim by their family members.

well, that's the only piece i could remember since it was years ago. sometimes, i have a thought that i wanted to visit again, seeing how the experience would affect me for older age but too bad, Penjara Pudu were already closed by then. i'm considering myself lucky as i had the experience and piece of memory where some don't have. where some only hearing the tales of it and wished to be in to see the place but they don't have a chance. although i can't remember all the exact details and it is slowly fading away, at least there were parts where i can still keep in memory although it seems blur now. haha. how i wish digital camera were already available back then..
