Assalammualaikum wbt,
I haven't post something for a while now. Life's been so busy, at the same time I am exhausted to catch one thing after another whereby at the end of the day, all I want to do is to lie down, playing with Hanif Aiden or crushing some candy (read: Candy Crush) or if the day is rough, some serious online shopping..
Oh yes, I have a new interest now, that is make ups! Well, I always wearing make up, literally everyday for the weekdays because of my work. But, it always a same routine, same basic stuff like eyeliners, eyeshadows, eyebrow liner, blusher, mascara and lipsticks. I wear foundation occasionally too. And for all those items, I would only replenish them when I running out of them. But it all change when I went to Sephora Black Friday sales recently to buy myself a Urban Decay Smoked Palette and some other little things too. When I got home, I open a Youtube and watch like hundreds of make up tutorials and I suddenly felt that I haven't got the right/enough tools for a complete make up looks!
I suddenly feel that it is not enough to just apply eyeshadow, you need the eyeshadow primer to make the color sticks longer and the right brushes for the color to pops and blend beautifully! And and..what's the use when you have beautiful made up eye but you have a dull skin face...that's when I learn how important contouring, highlighting for the face to make it "glow" and "natural"? The only natural I knew before is your wake-up face. And I recently know, there are numerous forms for powder, concealers and highlighter. They could be liquid, cream or powder and and..in the various types of packaging too! I also learn few new terms too like contour, baking, highlighting yada yada. And apparently, it is a sin not to apply concealer underneath your eyes! The more I watch the make up tutorials, the more I think I have less for a complete make-up look. I have created and awaken my inner monster that I never knew existed before!
To make it even exciting, I registered for Sephora online shopping. Dang! There, I can actually click on the products one by one and read the reviews whether it is good or not. I always bought make up stuff based on popular brands but it's actually wrong! The expensive or popular brands are not the guarantee that their products are good too. But one thing I know for sure, these make ups are freaking expensive! One tiny brush for eye shadow could cost you a hundred and you need like what.. like 10 different brushes for the eyes only. The other day, I went to Sephora to buy 'some' stuff I have shortlisted I wanted to buy and I almost faint to see the bill! Luckily my husband is waiting outside Sephora guys.. Sephora is so haunted, I always find myself come back for more, and casual visit will end up at least one or two item with me.
But I think, the spending is start to pay off when my colleague noticing my make up routine is different and I look slightly different too. They said, my eyes look bigger (because I applied better eye shadow, and blend them well), and I look shinier/brighter (because I applied glowing highlighter) hehe. I am still learning, now that I have the tools, the next thing is to mastering the technique. Different tutorials videos apply different kind of techniques and tools and at the end it left me confuse and I found myself still applying the same technique I used to (-_-)
Well, I hope this interest will fade someday, just like my other addictions before this but afterall, once a shopaholic, always a shopaholic! Bye for now, I want to nothing but watch more and more tutorials.
