It has been a tradition for my family to dining out when we want to celebrate something. For instance, first salary, bonuses and whatnot. Alhamdulillah, March is the bonus payday so every year, I took them to a nice restaurant and belanja them makan. Last year was at Jibby and Co and this year I wanted to bring them to another casual restaurant again but my humble mother requested to eat rice and tomyam...ohh..awww..she's such a sweetheart I thought at first but when the venue is Absolute Thai, it's not as sweet though. Hahaha. So, I chose Absolute Thai at Main Place, USJ because they served the best tom yam everrrrrr. Coincidencely, my Nenek from my father's side came to my house that afternoon with my Mak Yong and cousins and it just perfect, I could belanja her as well together. It always barakah to extend your sedekah guys..InsyaAllah it could extend your rezeki too.
My husband not with me as he has to bring my MIL to Seremban for some errands, so I went and spent a night before at my parents'. We ordered 2 types of Tom Yum, steamed and fried fish, vege, pandan chicken, butter prawn yada yada which I didn't take pictures any of it because I'm busy handling my son. I love how they provide plastic plates and cutleries to toddlers and although my son and his cousin (my sister's son) kept throwing them down, they will always replace the new ones. Of course, they were many rice landed on the floor compared to the amount made into their tummy but nevertheless it was good to spend time with my family :) Right after the lunch, we went to the playground with bouncing castle, cars sort of thing at lower level. Not our initial plan but the kids ran towards it, so as weak adults, we just paid the entrance fee and let them play..
The night before, I belanja-ed my grandparents and Maksu & Pakbusu at a nice restaurant called Laman Grill. This is quite a famous restaurant opened by Chef Zubir which gained his fame through the Malaysia's Masterchef series awhile ago. I heard my reviews about this but never had a chance to try one. Its first branch is in Shah Alam but we went the one at Kajang because it's nearer to Nenek's and my place. The food is ok lah. I ordered lobster but I found it quite salty and it's overcooked :( I tasted Pakbusu's steak and it was good. Will come back again for the steak for sure. The ambience is not bad, they had an unplugged performance that night but I don't quite like the seating arrangement. The tables arrangement are so close to one another making it difficult for people to walk. Especially with a stroller and a plus-size people. The patrons have to stand and moved their chairs further inside to make way. But, anyways, I love to see my grandparents happiness because they rarely eat western food and going out and seeing them finished their food that night and had fun really made me feel happy. I was full just to see them happy.. Sappy, I know. Atuk was so cute, he wanted to order the drink with ice-cream and cherry on top from the menu but don't know what it called. It's actually strawberry milkshake. What a cute drink choice huh? Hehehe.
The following week, it's my sister's turn to treat for another round of makan-makan at Homst Chinese Restaurant somewhere in Shah Alam. I heard she also got her bonus that month woot woot. It was weekend night and there's plenty of people there. The food is goooood compared to the last time I dined there. Maybe because I'm not paying, so the food became extra delicious or something. Hahaha. We also celebrated my second sister's birthday that night. Not surprised at all because our table located where we can directly see the kitchen and watched them taking out the cake from the box (-__-).
In the same month also err..I think, too many makan-makan events I can't keep up, was my Nenek's Birthday on my mother side so she belanja us at Satay Kajang. This is our usual spot ever since I was a kid when someone wanted to belanja makan. I remember my Atuk always brought us here when I was a kid to treat us Satay and his favourite ABC everytime he gets his monthly salary. I don't really fancy ABC and being a kid I couldn't finish them but I always asked for the ABC's ice-cream topping. Until now, if you asked him what he wanted to eat when we have the intention to belanja, he always mentioned Satay Kajang. When I still study and got my scholarship, I used that money to treat my family Satay Kajang as well. Such a memorable place to us. That night, as usual, he would order his favourite ABC and offered the ice-cream part to me :')
The following week, my cousin Jaja and Mak Yong's family invited me over for a dinner at Padang Jawa at the restaurant called Putera Ayu..yes, although the name is quite lame but the food is not bad. It served Tom Yum, butter prawn, crunchy squid and steamed fish. Another plus point it is located nearby our future home in Shah Alam. So, I already marked this place into my list. This dinner is also a conjunction with my Nenek on my father side's 80th Birthday.
My parents always taught me to put family first above all and that our rezeki will always be barakah if we give part of it to others especially our parents. That is why I don't understand why some people so berkira with their own parents. I mean, if you can't afford to bring them to fancy restaurants, you can bring them to mamak or tapau them roti canai, nasi lemak or something and they are more than happy. I myself belanja them at Pelita when I started working. It's not the food selection they cared for but rather the thought of them when you have something extra. And giving people food will double your Pahala you know.. Who doesn't want double Pahala and what more with people's pray that you'll be given abundance of rezeki right??
