We were departed from hotel at about 2.30pm, that was 2 hours delay! My brother in law, Kak Long's husband, Abg Amad drove us there. The feelings? Well...I was freaking nervous!!! All eyes are fixed on you while you were walking. Dah lah my skirt was long...I don't recall who was the one helped me to hold my lengthy skirt. I think it was my cousin. And I have to climb the stairs too! Because the dais is on the second floor. I held my husband's arm so tight because I'm afraid I am going to fall. It was scary sick. Luckily my decision to not wearing a veil was right! Kalau tak mesti dah rimas.
About the car though, the car plate was a gift from my cousin, Abg Osman. He gave me earlier before my wedding day since he couldn't attend. Nasib baik there were no police on that day. Risau kena saman..hahahaha.
That day, I think my face was froze to a fixed expression. To smile and smile continuously. When people talking to me, I couldn't even digest what it was, I couldn't even focus. Nervous kot...since you were the centre of the event, the limelight of the day. Then, macam biasa lah. Normal Malay wedding itinerary, to sit on the dais, let the guest renjis/bless you. Then, we headed for Makan Beradab. My initial plan was to set a dining table with just two of us dined there since this was a combined wedding. But, being a typical conservative parents, my mother didn't allow us to. Well, she's actually ok, but we just can't handle if people read: relatives put remarks on our action if we ever done that. Macam biasalah, she said "Nanti orang cakap apa pulak!", despite it is our big day, we still had to put others' perception and thoughts in planning the event. That's the thing with most of Malay wedding. Sometimes I feel it's like an event to the parents rather than the bride nor groom.
I had few debates with my mother for door gift. Mostly on the pricing and the size. Luckily we were both agree that we do not want a typical wedding gift that is a paper bag with so many stuffs inside. Mostly ridiculous stuffs like mini cutleries, nail clipper, pen, key chain....like...seriously?! Frankly speaking, if those stuffs had no use to me, I would throw them! Kadang2 kesian dengan some Malays ni, semua benda nampak pun nak beli. Sellers pun one thing jugak, kalau pergi dekat Nilai 3 tu, bertapa banyaknya lah barang merepek yang kononnya sesuai dijadikan doorgift. Cawan kecik untuk apa..bukan semua orang ada a fine coffee machine to make espresso at home! And.. nail clipper seriously?! Beli sini sikit, sana sikit lama2 kos tu dah jadi mahal jugak.
1) Doorgift
My mother and I have agreed from beginning that we wanted to give food as doorgift not all those ridiculous stuffs. After searching and surveying potential doorgift, we finally have decided to go for Coklat 4 Gaza chocolate bar as my doorgift. To make it even easier, both bride and groom side would go for the same doorgift. So, takdelah tetamu berebut to get one from each side. For the packaging and ribbon, I bought from Nilai 3. Where else..These chocolates bar I got to know from my mother from Facebook and I am the one who dealt with the dealer. At first it was ok although for me it is a bit pricey but my mother insisted since the money we paid for these chocolates went for a good cause (that is to donate to Gaza). At first I was a bit uneasy the way the dealer forced me to make a payment and did not give me a great deal of discounts although I bought them in bulk. They are based in Perak and insisted me to deal directly with them instead of their agents in Selangor. Of course there would be a logistic issues as they wanted to mail the chocolates via Pos Laju. I mean...seriously? What if the chocolates melt? Would you be responsible for that? Nanti tetamu aku nak bagi apa?!
Prior to the wedding she agreed to deliver it to my house as she had a seminar in Subang Jaya. But, on the promised day, she asked me to collect the chocolates from her at Holiday Villa Hotel in Subang Jaya. I already pissed off by then but I had no choice and followed anyway. When I arrived at Holiday Villa, I met her and paid the balance and she asked me to carry all the chocolate boxes (4 of them) to my car and after she said that, she just sat and continued her seminar without even helping (I don't expect her to help as she's pregnant and the boxes were heavy) but tolong jangan Kurang ajar sangat untuk buat tak tahu je!!! I am a paid customer and she treated me that way?! Muka abah memang dah berubah masa ni but I controlled the situation by asking help from the hotel worker to bring those boxes to my car. After they had helped us, of course I paid them for their willingness to help me. My abah scolded me as he said it's not my responsibilty to pay them but the dealer instead. Tapi takkan lah I tak bagi apa-apa kalau perempuan tu dah buat bodoh kejung je dekat dalam seminar hall too. Although coklat tu sedap tapi perangai sangat kurang ajar ok?!
Kalau dah tahu diri tu mengandung dan tinggal jauh pulak, tak perlu kot nak ambil order ni dan boleh je pass kat agent yang lebih dekat, tapi diri tu tamak kan? What was so shameful about her is she is wearing tudung labuh kot and she hesitated to shake my hand. Apa jijik sangat ke I ni hanya kerana tak pakai tudung so kau tak nak salam? Tapi duit nak pulak? I don't understand why some so-called self acclaimed pious people look down on others based on their apperances. Yes...the chocolates are delicious, but with her attitude, please..no more after this. If I really need that, I would just deal with the agent. Sorry if I sounded so harsh on her, but I do not want anybody to experienced what I had.
Besides the main chocolates doorgift, we also had a cookie jars. My initial plan was to make these cookie jars for Malam Berinai but my grandmother cooked Wajik for the doorgift instead. So, my mother used these cookie jars for the reception and gave them to my friends, as she claimed. There were only 100 jars of them, I am sorry if you didn't get this. I ordered these cookies from my Uni friend, Naim and MashaAllah, she only took half payment and another half was a gift for me. Semoga murah rezeki dan business bertambah maju. I didn't get the chance to taste this but my friends claimed they were delicious. Naim is based in Sungai Petani and if you are from Kedah or Penang wanted to order her beautiful cakes or as dowry decorator, you can contact her on Facebook under the name Naim Nurul. She made such a beautiful buttercream & fondant cakes.
2) Photobooth Props
It didn't have intention to set up a photobooth at first but the hall provided a simple one. So I just thought maybe I could just prepare some photobooth props to add the fun. I bought these props from Ello Props in Facebook. I love their props as they were detailed and used quality paper and stick. The design look modern and I love the wording! Each of it cost RM10 if I am not mistaken. I had about 15 of them. After the wedding of course some of them were missing (-_-). I do not have a proper photo of them, this one I stole from my sister's Instagram.
3) Guest Book
I have mentioned from my previous post (http://meowmiu.blogspot.com/2014/03/my-vendors-listing-part-1-nikah.html) that I got my guestbook, thank you tag, badge and welcome board from Stikerku.com. These are the designs which I got from their Facebook.
4) Hand Bouquet
Again, for my reception, I used Yani from The Craft Potion for my flower bouquet. I requested Carla Lilies for my hand bouquet and I love it! It stays fresh although she delivered it two days earlier. Please check out her Instagram as she made such beautiful flower arrangement. Serious tak tahu nak pilih mana satu. Semua cantik. Looking at her flower arrangement these days making me feel like throwing another wedding LOL. These are examples of me carrying my hand bouquet.
