Assalammualaikum wbt,
As I am writing this, we just discharged from hospital 2 weeks ago. We as I put it is our family as a unit because my husband and I staying at the hospital for a week due to Hanif Aiden was warded.
Poor him, he had fever for a week and we've been to clinic 2 times, and hospital 2 times when only the second time Hanif Aiden is admitted finally. It started with mild fever but got worsened by night when the temperature would shoot up to 39-40 degree! To the stage where he would shivering and grinding his teeth. He was so restless and wanted to be held all the time.
He was admitted on Monday 7th August, and first doctor diagnosed him as bronchitis but after an X-Ray test, it was Pneumonia. I don't know how he catch it or where he got it from. Doctor started the 5 days antibiotic on him through the IV. Man, I hate it when he has to be poked for inserting the needle/drip. It was painful to watch. As usual, the nurse had to wrap him with blanket to prevent him from moving while they inserted the needle through. Alhamdulillah, it only took one time trial for the correct vein to be found and injected. Just like last time, he needed to get his nebuliser for every 3 hours, and doing the daily steam percussion from Physiotherapy.
I don't know why this time he really hated the steam percussion session and would screaming that the physiotherapist had to wrap him with blanket :( I guess because the smoke is too much made him scared and suffocate. My husband's theory is because the assigned physiotherapist isn't as pretty as last time, duh. This time, I limit my visitors as Hanif Aiden immunisation has become sensitive and he may catch other diseases from outside. Plus, I do not want the visitors to be infected too since Pneumonia is quite contagious. But I still welcome food delivery from my family hihi. That's the main reason why I chose SJMC because it's nearer to my and husband's office and my parent's house as well.
On the third day, doctor put the IV off to my relief but being a smart kid Hanif Aiden is, he took off the IV port as well (-__-). I didn't realized at first but when he called me and showed his bloodied hand, I was panic thinking where the hell does this blood came from! He didn't cry at all but feeling rather proud that he managed to took it off his hand..haihh. The blood were everywhere on the bed. Of course the nurse is not happy with this, but Alhamdulillah when they checked with the doctor, the antibiotics also can be given using injection instead of through an IV. I would prefer that personally because Hanif Aiden doesn't like the IV port kept bugging him and nurses would put a flat board on both palm to stop him trying to take it off. It's sad for me as well to see him can't move his finger much and seeing him in discomfort :(
Staying at the hospital for a week really make me broke mann. I was so bored that I kept going to the shop buying...food. Yeah, I even think I gained few kilos for consuming too much dessert here. The famous Family Mart has just opened at SJMC so I found myself keep going there at least twice a day haha. When my husband started working on the third day, I would bring my son together and he too, would need a toy or two *rolls eyes* They have like the best affordable dessert spread like I needed to buy them alllllll. Even the soy drinks are delicious too. Luckily or rather unlucky I was on fever as well so I did not buy much the famous Green Tea and Cheesecake Ice-Cream. I did buy one anyway despite the fever because I felt it's rude to go to Family Mart without tasting their signature soft Ice-Cream.
I did a daily insta-story on what I purchased from Family Mart that I thought my viewers are tired of it already :P Forgive me guys, I am so bored at the hospital and it just nothing else better to do (actually there is but I'm having wayyy too much excuses). While for Hanif Aiden, everytime we go to Family Mart, he would take one toy car and it's a habit for him to bring his car everywhere. One night, I brought him to Family Mart and I remembered he brought two of his toy cars with him. Of course he would begging to buy him a new one and despite I already bought one earlier, being a loving (read: weak) mother that I am, I'm bought anyway.. Then only I realized the two toy cars were missing.. I don't think it's an accidentally missing, I positively sure Hanif Aiden put them somewhere in the shop (-___-). I searched at every aisle and even ask the cashier but to no avail. The next day before going to Family Mart routine, Hanif Aiden and I went to the other shop first and I bought him a rainbow fan. Then, at Family Mart, while choosing the dessert (most crucial part and gotta make Executive decision guys), Hanif Aiden went to the toy aisle and leave his rainbow fan (which I just bought literally 10 minutes earlier) on the dessert shelf!! Eeeee this boy, he thinks money grows from the treeeeeee are you?! It costed RM10 guys.. I'm pretty sure the two missing toy cars the night before, he must've put them on the shelf or maybe in the drink refrigerator *face palm*
Hanif Aiden was discharged on Sunday, 12th August and doctor prescribed him with so many medications. He has to take inhaler for every 4 hours, plus with other medicines as well to strengthen his lung. Now, we have to limit his outdoor activity as per doctor advised not to bring him to crowded places as his immunisation is still weak.
About our stay at SJMC, there was no single room available on the first night Hanif Aiden was admitted, at first I wanted to stay at two bedded room but unfortunately my husband is not allowed to have a night stay. I don't think I could handle my son 24 hours alone and also I do not want my son to interrupt other kids by his crying nor I wanted other kids' screaming/crying interrupt us as well. So, I took up the Executive room and waitlisted for the single room. Well, the difference between these rooms are, the cupboard is bigger, and there are sofa set plus coffee table for visitors. Alhamdulillah, the single room is available on the next day or rather else I have to pay an even bigger difference amount for the room charges, phewww.
The week after my son is discharged, my fever returned and worsened that I was on MC for three days. Which later I found out that I also had a mild Pneumonia which I caught from my son. Doctor gave me antibiotics but instead of making me better, I felt much worse. I was nauseous, vomitting, breath shortage, stomachache and diarrhoea which later I found out it's because I was allergic to the medicine. Wow, I never thought I had an allergy before. Don't worry guys, after I stop taking the medication, I feel much better and return to work. But I might getting mental sickness and depression trying to clear my 2 weeks backlog and pile of pending works due to my absence!
